Connecting Los Angeles residents to local parks and activities
Overview
The LA Parks Redesign project focused on transforming the department's digital presence to better serve its 4 million residents. The initiative aimed to create an accessible, bilingual platform that would streamline activity registration, facility discovery, and program engagement across the city's extensive network of parks and recreation centers.
The Challenge
LA Parks offered an overwhelming range of services - from swimming classes to senior programs, sports leagues to summer camps - but the disorganized website made it difficult for residents to find and register for activities. With hundreds of programs scattered across multiple pages without clear categorization, users struggled to navigate the digital maze of offerings.

Categorizing Content
We created clear categories based on activity type and location, this simplified how residents could discover and access the department's diverse offerings.
Navigation
We created a map feature to let users see where facilities were in relation to them and quickly get directions.
Card Design
We tried multiple iterations of card designs for the app and tested them to find what was the most legible.
So many parks!
